Written by Author - Authors Medical experts of the National HRT Clinic - January 26, 2017

Low T cause Tiredness

One of the main symptoms that people who have been diagnosed with low testosterone levels or low T suffer with is tiredness or fatigue, according to some of the most prestigious medical sources. Considered to be the most important hormone in men and necessary in small amounts in women, testosterone is a hormone that controls many functions of the mind and body. Energy levels, vitality, vigor and zest are some of the things that testosterone keeps healthy and strong.

Testosterone levels decrease

Tiredness and fatigue increase

Can low testosterone cause tiredness? Low testosterone can absolutely cause tiredness and fatigue. One of the reasons men get tested for low T is because they do not have the energy that they used to have before they turned 30. They run out of steam when they are working out or playing sports. Their sexual drive is not as strong as it used to be and their desire to participate in the activities they once loved dissipates. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can help to replace the missing testosterone and bring back energy while getting rid of lethargy and that awful tiredness that impedes upon daily life and work.

Can Low Testosterone Cause Chronic Fatigue

Chronic fatigue and extreme fatigue are both warning signs that a person could have low testosterone levels. A blood test is what is required to determine this to be a fact; however. Fatigue can have many causes, but if the cause is low T, TRT can be a safe and effective way to get back energy and vigor.

Can low testosterone cause extreme fatigue? Yes, low T can cause a person to be so extremely tired, that they cannot participate in their normal activities or produce at work. We have had many patients come to us for help with their fatigue and shortly after beginning their tailor made treatment plan with our clinic, they were feeling youthful and excited about life again. Lethargy can sap the life out of a person and we well understand this. We help our patients through this horrible and often scary side effect of low testosterone levels due to aging.

Research that came out of the journal Neurology shared that low testosterone can cause fatigue and depression. It is not always certain which came first; the depression or fatigue. They are usually linked, but both symptoms are very common ones from low T, according to this research.

Is Chronic Fatigue A Sign Of Low Testosterone Levels

Can low testosterone cause chronic fatigue? Yes. Left untreated, low testosterone levels can cause fatigue that is long lasting. Fatigue can last for years and get worse as time passes and testosterone levels become lower and lower. If a person gets blood tested for low T and has low testosterone levels, he or she can participate in TRT and get all of their energy back.

Amongst chronic fatigue, those who are dealing with low T may also suffer with:

  • Depression
  • Low energy
  • Mood swings
  • Irritability
  • Loss of memory
  • Inability to sleep
  • Insomnia

Unlike chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), chronic fatigue has a cause. If the cause of chronic fatigue is low T, there is help. CFS has no real cause that can be determined by experts, according to the Mayo Clinic. Fatigue that is long lasting (or chronic) is what can occur from low testosterone levels and low T is a condition that is very treatable.
