Sermorelin is a type of growth hormone therapy. Like human growth hormone (HGH), you need a doctor’s prescription to buy sermorelin. Sermorelin is only given via injections. You cannot buy sermorelin injections online or anywhere else, for the matter, without a doctor’s prescription.

Sermorelin Injections General Information

Sermorelin is a kind of growth hormone therapy. Sermorelin is not human growth hormone (HGH). In some cases, sermorelin therapy can be considered an alternative to HGH. In some patients, sermorelin is used in addition to HGH.

How Does Sermorelin Work?

Sermorelin is not human growth hormone. It belongs to a class of molecules that stimulates the production and release of other hormones known as secretagogues. In this case, sermorelin stimulates the pituitary gland to produce and release HGH. Sermorelin belongs to the group of secretagogues, also known as growth-hormone-releasing hormones (GHRH) or growth hormone-releasing factors (GHRF). This is because sermorelin stimulates the production and release of HGH. Since sermorelin can help boost your own body’s ability to produce HGH, in some cases, it could be enough to treat growth hormone deficiency (GHD).

Sermorelin Injections General Information

Indications and Contraindications

In adults that have been diagnosed with age-related growth hormone deficiency (GHD), sermorelin can be used to stimulate your body to release more human growth hormone (HGH).

Sermorelin is an injectable prescription medication that can be used alone or in combination with growth hormone injections to treat children or adults with growth hormone deficiencies. Sermorelin is only available with a doctor’s prescription.

According to the prescribing information, “sermorelin is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, lyophilized powder intended for subcutaneous injection after reconstitution with Sodium Chloride Injection, USP.”

Sermorelin is available in vials. The quantitative composition per vial is:

  • 0.5 mg vial: Each vial contains 0.5 mg sermorelin (as the acetate) and 5 mg mannitol. The pH is adjusted with dibasic sodium phosphate and monobasic sodium phosphate buffer.
  • 3.0 mg vial: Each vial contains 3.0 mg sermorelin (as the acetate) and 5 mg mannitol. The pH is adjusted with dibasic sodium phosphate and monobasic sodium phosphate buffer.

Sermorelin is a prescription medication used to treat adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD).

The prescribing guidelines for Sermorelin acetate injections say: “Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: corticosteroids and thyroid medications. This drug may affect the results of certain lab tests (e.g., inorganic phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase). Make sure laboratory personnel, and your doctors know you use this drug. Do not start or stop any medicine without approval from your healthcare provider. Hypothyroidism: Untreated hypothyroidism can jeopardize the response to Sermorelin. Thyroid hormone determinations should be performed before the initiation and during therapy. Thyroid hormone replacement therapy should be initiated when indicated. Intracranial lesions: Patients with GH deficiency secondary to an intracranial lesion were not studied in clinical trials; Sermorelin treatment is not recommended in such patients. Obesity, hyperglycemia or hyperlipidemia: Subnormal GH responses have been seen in obesity and hyperglycemia, and in patients with elevated plasma fatty acids.”

Contraindications and Precautions

Sermorelin Benefits

Sermorelin acetate for injection increases plasma growth hormone (GH) concentration by stimulating the pituitary gland to release GH. Sermorelin is similar to the native hormone (GRF [1-44]-NH 2 ) in its ability to stimulate HGH secretion in humans.

The benefits of increased secretion of HGH include:

  • Skeletal Growth
  • Cell Growth
  • Organ Growth
  • Increased protein metabolism
  • Improved carbohydrate metabolism
  • Improved Lipid Metabolism/Reduction of Body Fat
  • Improved Mineral Metabolism – particularly resulting in an increase in bodily potassium and phosphorus levels
  • Improved tissue metabolism – particularly an increase in collagen production

Sermorelin Potential Side Effects

Sermorelin injections are approved and are generally regarded as safe. However, as with any prescription medication, there are some potential side effects of sermorelin therapy.

The most common side effects of sermorelin injections are pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site.

Other side effects may include:

  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)
  • Dizziness
  • Hyperactivity
  • Drowsiness
  • Rash or hives

A temporary allergic reaction described by severe redness, swelling, and urticaria at the injection sites has been reported in one patient who developed antibodies. Additionally, its use may reduce insulin sensitivity, thereby raising blood sugar to levels that could be harmful to diabetes sufferers. It may also decrease triiodothyronine (T3) levels due to its tendency to reduce the bodily levels of sodium, potassium, and phosphorous.

See your medication’s insert for a complete list of potential side-effects.

Sermorelin Injections Dosage

Sermorelin Injections Dosage

A dosage of 0.2 – 0.3 micrograms (mcg) once daily at bedtime by subcutaneous injection is recommended. It is also recommended that subcutaneous injection sites be periodically rotated.

To prevent possible contamination, wipe the rubber vial stopper with an antiseptic solution before puncturing it with the needle. It is recommended that Sermorelin be administered using sterile, disposable syringes and needles.

Note: If you are self-injecting your prescribed dose of sermorelin, it is critically important that you use it exactly as directed by your physician or healthcare provider. Using more or less than your prescribed dose can result in ineffective treatments or increase the risk of unwelcome side effects.

Storage Information

Store dry powder at 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C) and away from heat, moisture and light. Once reconstituted, keep this medicine in a refrigerator between 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Throw away any unused medicine after the beyond-use date. Do not flush unused medications or pour down a sink or drain.

How Much Do Sermorelin Injections Cost?

One of the main advantages of sermorelin therapy in patients where it is appropriate is that it tends to be a less costly alternative to HGH injections. On average, HGH injections cost anywhere from $750 to $2000 per month, depending on the dose and brand of HGH. Sermorelin injections cost about $400 to $750 per month.
