HCG vs. HGH – What is the Difference?

Written by Author - Authors Medical experts of the National HRT Clinic - January 11, 2016

HCG and HGH are often confused with one another, and that is not surprising since their initials are relatively similar. Under no circumstances should one be substituted for or interchanged with the other regarding hormone replacement therapy. Their uses in the body are entirely different.

Growth Hormone vs. HCG

When comparing HCG vs. HGH, the first thing that stands out is the fact that one is considered a pregnancy hormone (HCG) and has received a lot of exposure due to its ability to aid in weight loss. (More on that in the HCG section of this report.) HGH has many different reasons for its use, and can have a tremendous impact on a person’s life when growth hormone deficiency is present in adulthood.

Why Do People Need HGH?

HGH is human growth hormone, an essential chemical messenger in the body that people of every age require at all times. The biggest difference when comparing HCG vs. HGH is that HCG is primarily used as a weight loss tool by doctors. HGH is used to restore balance to crucial functions in the body.

The functions of HGH include:

  • Maintaining a robust immune system that can fight invaders and provide rapid healing
  • Promoting muscle growth and strength
  • Enhancing libido and sexual performance
  • Keeping bones strong
  • Regulating metabolism to keep weight at an ideal level and ensuring fat burning
  • Maintaining proper energy and stamina
  • Providing necessary signals to the brain for memory, focus, and cognitive functions
  • Regulating cholesterol levels to benefit heart health
  • Stimulating cellular regeneration – essential for firm skin, thick hair, and internal organ size

These are only some of the most vital functions of HGH, and the reason why supplementation is important if a deficiency has been diagnosed.

What Does HCG Do for the Body?

HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone produced by women in the early stages of their pregnancy. HCG enables a woman to nourish the developing embryo, especially during the first trimester when nausea may limit caloric intake.

Comparing HCG and HGH are like night and day. HCG, when used as part of an extremely low calorie, doctor-supervised diet plan enables the individual to maintain a daily regimen of consuming 700 calories a day while using HCG injections. The HCG will be sending signals to the brain’s hypothalamus that there is no hunger and to break down body fat for conversion into fuel.

Rapid weight loss will occur, often up to 30 pounds in 30 days. There is a specific diet plan that must be followed during this time, and doctor supervision is a necessity.

Where to Get HGH Therapy

At National HRT, we provide doctor prescribed HGH therapy to adults diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency. This diagnosis requires a few steps:

  1. We begin with an initial confidential telephone consultation – free of charge – with one of our clinical advisors at our hormone replacement clinic.
  2. If, as a result of the consultation, it is deemed that there might be some form of hormone deficiency or imbalance, a blood test will be scheduled at a local lab.
  3. Each person must provide the results of a recent physical examination. If one has not been done, then it can be scheduled with a primary care doctor or at any walk-in clinic.
  4. A comprehensive medical history questionnaire must be completed. This can be found right here on this website and filled out online.
  5. A follow-up consultation will be scheduled once all of the results are in, and the doctor has reviewed the completed medical file and made a determination as to whether or not there is a hormone deficiency, or if there is some other type of medical problem

If HGH injection therapy is required, the medical advisor will discuss the prescription with the client and determine the best choice regarding HGH brand and injector style. All prescriptions are sent to and filled at licensed US pharmacies and shipped directly to the client.
