What to Do If Testosterone Cypionate is Not Working

Written by Author - Authors Medical experts of the National HRT Clinic - August 31, 2016

Testosterone Cypionate Injections

Finally, you have had your blood tests, physical examination, and completed your health questionnaire, and the doctor has diagnosed that Low T is the reason for all of the changes and symptoms you are experiencing. You have even started your testosterone cypionate injections – but they do not seem to be working as expected. You may be wondering what is wrong and what you can do about this situation.

Here is what to do if testosterone cypionate is not working:

  1. Call the doctor – if you do not see the results that you expect (be reasonable and understand what and when will occur) the prescribing doctor should be your first call. He or she can help determine the best course of action. Perhaps you have misinterpreted the instructions for testosterone cypionate use, or maybe the dosage or frequency of administration is not what your body needs.
  2. Lose weight – if you are overweight, your body is probably converting some of the testosterone cypionate into estrogen. Your doctor may have prescribed anastrozole and/or HCG to accompany this treatment. If not, please discuss this now. You may need to switch physicians if your prescribing doctor is not a hormone replacement specialist as there is more to the treatment of Low T than testosterone alone.
  3. Add testosterone propionate for a short time – some men whose testosterone levels are extremely low at the start of treatment might require a jumpstart with testosterone propionate to help boost their testosterone levels.

If testosterone cypionate is not working, only an experienced doctor can help you determine the reason why. The typical treatment protocol is once every 10 to 14 days, so if your prescription is for longer intervals than that, we may have found your problem. Please feel free to contact a hormone replacement specialist at National HRT to discuss your personal situation.

Additional Methods of Boosting Testosterone

Additional methods of boosting your testosterone levels may be used in conjunction with your testosterone cypionate injections.

Here are some steps you can try that may bring the desired results:

  • Lose weight – once again, belly fat increases estrogen conversion, lowering testosterone levels
  • Increase your intake of zinc, vitamin D, and B vitamins
  • Engage in high-intensity and weight-bearing exercises that target the large muscle groups – squats, bench presses, biceps curls
  • Eat heart healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, extra virgin olive oil, and coconut oil
  • Avoid sugar and greasy fried foods
  • Consume plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables, as well as lean protein
  • Get plenty of sleep – 7 hours minimum
  • Reduce your stress

When your testosterone cypionate injections are not working, there are steps you can take to help improve your results.
